The patch that just landed

Blue Prince, the acclaimed 2025 puzzle game about a shape-shifting mansion, got a new update on 16 September 2026. Patch 1.7.3 is a maintenance release rather than new content: it fixes trophy spawn points in the Showroom, Tunnel and Pump Room, tidies up lighting and colliders, and closes several softlocks, including one that could let players clip through the basement floor while operating heavy machinery.

A separate block of fixes targets challenge and speedrun modes, from a broken dare in Dare Mode to raycast and UI bugs that could misfire when players clicked quickly through menus. Developer Dogubomb said the patch is live on Steam first, with Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 versions to follow soon.

What Blue Prince actually is

For anyone who missed it, Blue Prince is a strategy puzzle adventure from Dogubomb, published by Raw Fury, that launched on 10 April 2025. You explore Mount Holly, a 45-room estate where every day begins with a blank blueprint. Each door you open lets you draft the next room, so the house is rebuilt as you go, and the goal is to reach the rumoured Room 46.

The design blends a roguelike run structure with logic and deduction, and it has been folded into Steam's Cerebral Puzzle Showcase and a Hidden Depths bundle alongside Fez, Outer Wilds, Tunic and Animal Well.

“It's gonna be one big final update, and then it's gonna be final forever.”

Tonda Ros, director of Blue Prince, to Aftermath, February 2026

One last update, then finished

Patches like 1.7.3 fit a plan the game's creator laid out earlier in the year. Speaking to Aftermath at the DICE summit in February 2026, director Tonda Ros said Blue Prince would get one more substantial update and then stop.

Ros framed the approach as old-fashioned on purpose. "I really like the old-school games where they put it out there, and that's the game," he told Aftermath, describing a title meant to feel "definitive from day one." He ruled out DLC and live-service tinkering, saying the final update would add polish and a few cinematics he did not have time to finish, without changing the story or structure.

He was candid about the cost. Blue Prince is his first game and the product of years of long hours, and he said constantly updating a title can "start dividing your audience," so he chose to lock the experience and catch up on fixes afterward. Asked whether the labyrinth still hid secrets, he answered with a coy smile that players had "mined it pretty well," leaving the rest "for future generations to answer."

Where to play it

Blue Prince is on Steam, where it is also Steam Deck Verified as of June 2026, and on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2. The 1.7.3 fixes reach those console versions shortly after the Steam release, according to the developer.

With the roadmap pointing toward a single closing update, the mansion's secrets are close to being set in stone.
