Team Vitality won StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026, beating Aurora 3-1 in the grand final on 20 September. The event ran from 17 to 20 September in Barcelona, Spain, bringing eight teams together for a $500,000 prize pool, according to the tournament page on blast.tv and a report from Esports Central.

It was a compact, high-quality field. Eight of the world's stronger sides, including Vitality, Aurora, FURIA, MIBR, NRG, MOUZ and Natus Vincere, met in a four-day playoff format that gave little room to recover from a slow start, which is what made Vitality's climb back through the lower bracket notable.

It was a redemption run for the French side. Esports Central notes Vitality dropped into the lower bracket after an earlier loss to Aurora, then fought back through the playoffs to reach the final and turn the head-to-head around when it mattered most. The publication credits captain Dan 'apEX' Madesclaire with steadying the team, writing that he 'led his team to very convincing wins' once they reached the decisive stage.

How the final played out

The grand final was a best-of-five, and Vitality set the tone immediately. Per Esports Central's map-by-map account, Vitality took Anubis 13-4, Aurora hit back to win Inferno 13-11, and then Vitality closed the series with Mirage 13-4 and Cache 13-7 for the 3-1 scoreline. Three of the four maps were comfortable, and only Inferno kept Aurora in the series.

Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut was named the tournament's most valuable player with a 1.50 rating, the standout individual performance across the four days in Barcelona. It capped a run in which Vitality had to beat the same Aurora side that had earlier knocked them into the lower bracket, a reversal that made the final feel like a settled score rather than an upset.

Prize split and final standings

The $500,000 pool was heavily top-weighted. Blast.tv's tournament page lists Vitality's winner's share at $200,000 and Aurora's runner-up prize at $130,000, with FURIA third for $70,000 and MIBR fourth for $40,000. NRG and MOUZ shared fifth and sixth at $20,000 each, while Natus Vincere and magic took seventh and eighth for $10,000 apiece.

Natus Vincere had come in as the reigning StarSeries winners but could not defend the title. Aurora's run to the final, on the other hand, was a statement from an organisation better known this month for its Dota 2 signings, showing it can trouble the very top of the Counter-Strike 2 table too.

A busy autumn for Counter-Strike

Barcelona was one stop in a crowded second half of September. A CS2 tournament calendar tracked by Esportnow lists ESL Pro League Season 24 opening on 21 September and running to 11 October in Katowice, returning the event to the Spodek arena that hosted many of the game's classic Polish crowds.
