Worlds 2026 at a glance: dates, venues and start times
Worlds 2026, the League of Legends World Championship, starts Thursday, October 15 with the Play-In Stage in Los Angeles and ends with the final on November 14 in Brooklyn. Nineteen teams qualified, 16 of them play the Swiss Stage in Allen, Texas from October 23, and the last eight play best-of-five knockouts.
Riot's own Worlds 2026 primer, published October 5, 2026, lays out four blocks. The Play-In runs October 15 to 18 at Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. The Swiss Stage runs October 23 to 31 in Allen, Texas. The quarterfinals run November 3 to 6 and the semifinals November 7 and 8, both in Allen. The final is November 14 in Brooklyn, New York, and Insider Gaming's schedule piece of September 25 names the venue as Barclays Center.
Insider Gaming's listing puts Play-In matches at 11 AM PDT, which is 2 PM EDT and 7 PM BST. Swiss days on October 23 and 24 start at 10 AM PDT, and the final starts at 11 AM PST, or 2 PM EST. Start times shifted once already after Riot updated them on September 25, so check the official schedule on lolesports.com on the day.
The 19 teams and the four fighting through the Play-In
Inven Global's cheat sheet lists the field by league. The LPL sends Anyone's Legend, Bilibili Gaming, TOP Esports and Shanghai Invictus Gaming Meituan. The LCK sends Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, T1 and Dplus KIA. The LEC sends G2 Esports, Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp. The LCS sends Team Liquid Alienware, LYON and Cloud9 Kia. The LCP sends Team Secret Whales, CTBC Flying Oyster and MVK Esports, and CBLOL sends LOS and FURIA.
Four of those teams start in the Play-In: Karmine Corp, Cloud9, MVK Esports and FURIA, the second Brazilian seed after the CBLOL Finals on October 10, per Insider Gaming's October 12 report. Riot's primer says the bracket pairings come from a fully random draw in which any team can face any other. Insider Gaming's listing has Karmine Corp against Cloud9 and FURIA against MVK Esports in the first round, although listings differ on which match is played first, so treat the order as unconfirmed.
The home angle is worth a line. Insider Gaming notes the Los Angeles arena is the home of the LCS, which could help Cloud9 in front of a friendly crowd. Only one of the four teams survives, and the winner then walks into the Swiss Stage in Tier 4 after a run of best-of-five series.
“Winning Worlds once is hard enough.”
How the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage works
The Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage has 16 teams: the 15 direct qualifiers plus the Play-In winner. It runs up to five rounds, and a team that collects three match wins advances while a team that takes three losses goes home. Round 1 is drawn from four tiers, with Tier 1 facing Tier 4 and Tier 2 facing Tier 3, and teams from the same region cannot meet.
From Round 2, Riot pairs teams on the same record, rematches are not allowed and same-region matchups become possible. Draws take place on October 18, 23, 24, 26 and 30. Per Inven Global, Tier 1 is Gen.G, Anyone's Legend, Team Liquid Alienware and G2 Esports, and the Play-In winner sits in Tier 4 with CTBC Flying Oyster, Invictus Gaming and Dplus KIA.
Riot's primer says the stage uses a mix of best-of-one and best-of-three series but does not say which rounds use which. Third-party guides disagree, with some putting best-of-three on the decisive qualification and elimination matches and others on the later rounds. Until Riot publishes the ruleset, any claim about series length is a guess, and we will not repeat one.
Knockouts, the final and the Fan Fest
The eight teams that survive the Swiss Stage enter the knockouts, where every series is a best-of-five. The quarterfinal draw happens on October 31: the two teams that finished 3-0 each face a random team that finished 3-2, and the remaining four are paired at random, per Riot's primer.
Quarterfinals run November 3 to 6 and semifinals November 7 and 8, both in Allen. The final follows on November 14 in Brooklyn. Inven Global reports that Worlds Fan Fest runs at Pier 36 in Lower Manhattan on November 12 and 13 from 3 PM to 9 PM EST and on November 14 from 11 AM to 8 PM EST, and that Riot said more details will come closer to the event.
What Riot has not announced yet
The most obvious gap is money. Neither Riot's primer nor Inven Global's cheat sheet states a 2026 prize pool, and a search for an official figure turned up none, so we are not printing one. Totals from earlier years are easy to find in guides, but a guide's number is not a Riot announcement, so.
The second gap is the Swiss series lengths covered above. The third is the exact Play-In order of play, which varies between listings. None of this stops anyone watching, but it matters if you are planning a viewing schedule around specific matches or placing a Pick'Ems entry that depends on the draw.
T1 defend the title with a three-peat already banked
T1 enter as the LCK's third seed, according to Riot's primer, but they are the reigning champions. Inven Global reported on November 11, 2025 that T1 beat KT Rolster 3-2 in the final in Chengdu on November 9, 2025, winning the Summoner's Cup in 2023, 2024 and 2025. That is the first three-peat in Worlds history and T1's sixth world title overall.
Inven described the run in plain terms: "Winning Worlds once is hard enough." A fourth in a row would break ground no organisation has reached. The 2026 bracket does not make it simple. Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports and Dplus KIA are also in from Korea, and Chinese teams Anyone's Legend and Bilibili Gaming are in the same Swiss field.
How to follow Worlds 2026 without missing the deadlines
Pick'Ems and Crystal Ball are live on lolesports.com/pickems and in the League client. Per Riot's primer, Play-In picks lock October 15, Swiss picks lock October 23 and knockout picks lock November 3. Inven Global adds that Swiss picks open on October 18 and knockout picks open on October 31, with scores finalized on November 14.
The Worlds channels on Twitch carry the broadcast, and GosuGamers lists the official channels as riotgames, ltasul, ltaespanol, lolesportstw and leagueoflegendsjp. The practical takeaway: the Play-In is the cheapest place to start, because one bracket of best-of-five series decides who becomes the 16th Swiss team.
