Ananta release date: January 15, 2027

The Ananta release date is January 15, 2027. NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain set the date during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, and RPGSite reports the launch lands on the same day in Japan, the US and Europe. PocketGamer.biz quotes the line as "Ananta will launch worldwide on January 15th, 2027," and Shacknews quotes the developer's own post: "Global Release January 15th, 2027."

That puts the game roughly three months out from today, October 18, 2026. The date is firm in the sense that it comes from the publisher and appears on both the Steam page and the PlayStation Store, where pre-orders opened. It is not yet the end of the story, though, because several practical details, covered below, are still unannounced.

Platforms: PS5, PC and mobile on one date

Ananta is coming to PlayStation 5, PC and mobile. On PC, RPGSite says players can use Steam or Ananta's standalone client, and Steam's store data lists Windows only, with no Mac or Linux build. Mobile means iOS and Android, with pre-registration open on the App Store and Google Play. Steam shows supported interface languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Arabic, with full audio in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean.

One caution on sources: GosuGamers listed platforms as to be announced in its coverage, while RPGSite, PocketGamer.biz and Shacknews all list PS5, PC and mobile. The store pages settle it. Both Steam and the PlayStation Store carry listings, and Steam's page is where players can add the game to a wishlist.

“Go Viral. Save the World.”

Ananta tagline, as reported by RPGSite, August 25, 2026

Is Ananta free to play, and is it a gacha game?

Ananta is free to play. Steam lists it as free and tags it Action, Adventure, RPG and Free To Play. The more interesting question is monetization. Wikipedia's summary of developer statements says that in 2025 the team confirmed there would be no gacha system for characters, so players obtain them through progression. Outfits, vehicles and homes can be monetized, but the sources do not say whether those items use gacha-style randomness.

RPGSite describes the monetization as suspected to center on optional cosmetics, which it explicitly calls unconfirmed. Read that carefully: no one has published a price list, a currency system or a battle pass, so judgments about how fair the shop will be belong after launch, not before it.

What you actually play: an urban open-world RPG about being an influencer

Steam describes Ananta as an urban open-world RPG where you play as a variety of characters and explore "bustling business districts and hidden alleyways, to quiet tea towns and buzzing old streets." RPGSite adds the premise: you are an influencer building reputation and social influence through missions and crises, recruiting agents to rebuild the A.C.D. team, with martial arts combat that lets you use everyday objects as weapons.

The scale claims are specific. RPGSite lists more than 100 NPCs with their own stories, roles such as NCCA officer, hacker, delivery rider and content creator, and transport that includes cars, motorcycles, helicopters, yachts, subways and hang gliders. PocketGamer.biz says the cities draw on Shanghai, Hangzhou and Tokyo. The Gamescom trailer showed a second major city, Chongxiao, with Shacknews naming the two cities as Nova City and Chongxiao's Lingyun City.

How Ananta got here: from Project Mugen to a dated launch

Wikipedia traces the game to Gamescom 2023, where it was revealed as Project Mugen from Naked Rain, a studio under Hangzhou NetEase Thunderfire Technology. It was renamed Ananta in late 2024, with a name said to mean "without end" in Sanskrit, and received an official reveal trailer in December 2024. NetEase showed a new trailer and gameplay at Tokyo Game Show in September 2025 and the game was approved for release in China.

That is a long runway for an unreleased game, and GosuGamers' headline joke that "We're getting GTA VI before Ananta" captures how long the wait felt. Now that January 15, 2027 is fixed, the joke is a question of calendar order, and the date is the strongest commitment NetEase has made so far.

Pre-registration, pre-orders and what is still missing

PocketGamer.biz reports that pre-registration has passed 17 million across more than 110 countries and regions, and that the developers announced the figure alongside the date. Pre-orders are open on Steam and the PlayStation Store, but because the game is free there is nothing to pay for yet; the listings function as wishlists. None of the articles we read mentions pre-registration or launch rewards, so we cannot confirm any.

The biggest gap for PC players is hardware. Steam's page lists the minimum and recommended processor and graphics as TBD, with only Windows 10 or 11 64-bit named. Until NetEase publishes a spec sheet, nobody can say whether a given laptop or handheld will run it, and the same goes for mobile device support. Wikipedia adds that the initial languages are Mandarin Chinese, English and Japanese, with more planned.

What to do before January 15

If you plan to play on PC, wishlist it on Steam and watch the page for the requirements update, which is the single most useful missing piece. If you plan to play on mobile, the pre-registration page on Google Play or the App Store is where launch notifications will come from, and the 17 million figure suggests the early servers will be busy.

If you are weighing it against other releases, the honest summary is that Ananta has a date, a platform list, a free price and a stated stance against character gacha, and almost nothing else is public yet: no closed beta in the sources we read, no launch monetization details and no performance targets. We will update this guide when NetEase confirms any of those.
