The Exodus game release date: April 7, 2027

The Exodus game release date is April 7, 2027. Archetype Entertainment revealed it in a trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026, and PCGamesN confirmed the date in its report that day. If you have been waiting for the sci-fi RPG since its first reveal at The Game Awards in 2023, as Game Informer notes, that is the date to mark.

RPGSite lists the same date worldwide, with no staggered regional launch for Japan, the US or Europe. As of October 21, 2026 we found no announced delay, and the Steam page still shows April 7, 2027 as the release date.

Exodus platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC

PCGamesN says the launch is simultaneous across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the PC version sold through Steam or the Epic Games Store. The Steam listing is Windows only and describes controller support as full. There is no mention of last-generation consoles, Switch 2 or a Game Pass day-one deal in anything we opened.

Wizards of the Coast is the publisher and Archetype Entertainment the developer, per RPGSite and the Steam page. Game Informer describes Archetype as a studio founded by former BioWare, Halo Studios and Naughty Dog developers, which fits the Mass Effect comparisons critics have made.

Steam lists ten interface languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese and Russian, with English marked as having full audio support.

“Fighting not just to survive, but to protect the one thing worth going back to: home.”

Exodus release date trailer framing, as quoted by RPGSite, August 25, 2026

Exodus price and pre-orders: still unannounced

There is no official price yet. PCGamesN reported that pre-orders had not opened when the date was announced, and the Steam page, checked on October 21, 2026, shows the game as coming soon with no price. We also found no announcement of editions, deluxe bundles or pre-order bonuses, so anyone quoting a figure now is guessing.

The PC requirements are equally blank. Steam lists minimum specs as TBD for the operating system, processor, memory, graphics and storage. That usually changes closer to launch, and we will update this guide when Archetype publishes them.

What Exodus is: a single-player sci-fi action RPG

Steam describes Exodus as a cinematic, single-player action RPG set in a new far-future universe, where you rise from salvager to Traveler and visit worlds ravaged by the effects of time. Game Informer adds third-person shooting, a choice-based story and a cast of companions, and notes the setting leans on time dilation, the idea that time passes differently for travellers than for those left behind.

Game Informer names the protagonist as Jun Aslan, heir to a powerful dynasty trying to save their homeworld, Lidon. It also lists Matthew McConaughey in the cast as the mysterious C. C. Orlev. We have not seen a full cast list from the studio, so treat further names as unconfirmed.

The characters in the new trailer: Salt and Emrys

The August trailer focused on Salt, an awakened octopus with human-level intelligence who pilots a combat mech, according to Game Informer. RPGSite describes her as a mercenary and bounty hunter who specialises in long-range sniping, evasive manoeuvres and ink-like smokescreens, and who fights beside Jun.

The other companion shown is Emrys, a member of the Deva, a Celestial species described as having many consciousnesses. RPGSite says Emrys supports Jun with Remnant Orbs that drain and weaken enemies. The trailer's closing framing, per RPGSite, is that they are fighting to protect home rather than simply to survive.

Wishlist milestones: what the first 500,000 unlocked

You can wishlist Exodus on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam and Epic Games Store, and Archetype is rewarding wishlists with milestone unlocks. RPGSite reports the first milestone, passed at more than 500,000 wishlists, gave a Celestial Star Map apartment decoration, concept art and the track Elegy for a Forgotten World.

Later milestones are said to offer outfit cosmetics, a Salt companion story cinematic and more music. These are free extras, not a pre-order, and none of them is a sign of the final price or editions.

How we got here: from the 2023 reveal to a dated launch

Exodus was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2023, per Game Informer, and the August 2026 trailer attached a single day to it: April 7, 2027.

The date arrived with a push on several fronts at once: the Opening Night Live trailer, a Game Informer cover story, live storefront pages and the wishlist rewards. That pattern usually signals a marketing run-up rather than a game on the verge of slipping, but a date is only as firm as the studio's progress, and we found no development update since August.

What to watch before April 2027

Three things are still missing: a price, pre-order and edition details, and PC requirements. Steam's page is live and the store listings are already collecting wishlists, so a pre-order announcement is plausible in the months ahead, but nothing we opened confirms a date for it.

Game Informer notes Exodus is on the cover of its next issue, which suggests deeper previews are coming. Until then the confirmed facts are the date, the three platforms, the developer and publisher, and a single-player structure. We will correct this guide if any of them changes.

Frequently asked

What is the Exodus game release date?

The Exodus game release date is April 7, 2027. Archetype Entertainment announced it in a trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026, and PCGamesN and RPGSite both report the same date worldwide. The Steam page still lists April 7, 2027 as of October 21, 2026, and we found no announced delay. Pre-orders have not opened, so the date is the only commercial detail confirmed so far.

What platforms is Exodus coming to?

Exodus launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC at the same time, according to PCGamesN. The PC version is sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store. We found no announcement of a Switch 2, last-generation console or Game Pass version, so those should not be assumed until the studio or publisher confirms them. Check the storefront you plan to use, since each lists the game separately.

How much will Exodus cost?

The price has not been announced. PCGamesN reported that pre-orders had not opened when the release date was revealed, and the Steam page, checked on October 21, 2026, shows the game as coming soon with no price. We found no editions or bonuses either, so any figure you see online is a guess until Archetype or Wizards of the Coast confirms it, and we will update this answer the moment either announces a price.

Is Exodus single-player or multiplayer?

Steam describes Exodus as a cinematic, single-player action RPG. Game Informer adds that it has third-person shooting, a choice-based story and a cast of companions, with Jun Aslan as the protagonist. Nothing we opened mentioned a multiplayer or co-op mode, so on current information it is a story-driven solo game built around companions you recruit and fight beside.

Who is making Exodus?

Archetype Entertainment develops Exodus and Wizards of the Coast publishes it, according to RPGSite and the Steam page. Game Informer describes Archetype as a studio founded by former BioWare, Halo Studios and Naughty Dog developers. The game was first revealed at The Game Awards in 2023 and has since been compared to Mass Effect by critics. Neither studio nor publisher has named a lead director in anything we opened.

What are the Exodus PC requirements?

They have not been published. The Steam page, checked on October 21, 2026, lists every minimum requirement, including operating system, processor, memory, graphics and storage, as TBD. The Steam version is Windows only. Requirements normally appear closer to launch, often when pre-orders open, so check the Steam page for updates before April 7, 2027. Do not buy hardware to match a guess until the real numbers are posted.
