Final Fantasy Resonance release date: October 22 on every platform

The Final Fantasy Resonance release date is October 22, 2026. Square Enix announced the date on June 9, 2026, and the game arrives the same day on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, according to RPG Site's report on the announcement. Steam's own page shows Oct 22, 2026 and still lists the game as coming soon.

That is a rare thing for a Final Fantasy release: one date across five platforms, with no timed exclusive on the schedule we could find. Nintendo Wire's write-up of the same announcement lists the same line-up. Neither outlet reported a console-first window, and we found no delay announced since June, so the date has held for four months.

What Final Fantasy Resonance is and where the story comes from

Nintendo Wire describes Final Fantasy Resonance as the first HD-2D game in the Final Fantasy series, built on the story arc of the discontinued mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. You protect the crystals that sustain the world from a dark knight named Veritas, in turn-based combat with cinematic summons and attacks. Square Enix's own wording, as quoted by RPG Site, is that the game is "far from just a direct port" of the mobile original.

RPG Site also reports that chocobos, espers and airships return, and that Cloud, Tidus and the Warrior of Light appear. Steam's description frames it as a return to the pixel-art world of Final Fantasy, with companions bound by fate and "Visions" that you call on to aid you in battle. Steam's feature list adds staggering and what it calls Resonance attacks as part of the turn-based system.

Final Fantasy Resonance price and editions compared

The standard edition costs $49.99 in the US, and Steam's live data on October 15 agrees. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $59.99. On Steam it adds the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack, and RPG Site describes it as the base game plus in-game items. The Collector's Edition is $209.99 and, per RPG Site, adds four physical items on top of the deluxe bonuses, including an artbook, a soundtrack and a Final Fantasy Trading Card Game promo card.

Two bonuses are worth knowing about before you click buy. Steam lists a pre-order bonus, the Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack, for pre-order buyers only. It also lists an Early Purchase Bonus, the Squire Kickstart Pack, for purchases made by November 6, 2026 at 8:59 a.m. PT. Steam does not say what is in either pack beyond the names, so we cannot tell you whether they affect balance. We would treat both as cosmetic or convenience items until Square Enix says otherwise.

The Final Fantasy Resonance demo: what you can play now

A free Final Fantasy Resonance demo has been live on Steam since September 3, 2026. Steam describes it as a way to begin your journey with the free demo, where your save data carries over to the full game. Some level restrictions apply, but the demo lets you explore the entire first chapter exactly as it appears in the full version.

For a $49.99 turn-based RPG built on a mobile game's story, that is the most useful fact on the page. A first chapter you can play without paying settles whether the HD-2D look, the combat pacing and the pixel-art presentation suit you, and nothing you do is lost if you buy. We have not played the demo for this report, so we are not offering a verdict. We are pointing out that the cheapest way to test the game is already available on PC.

Final Fantasy Resonance PC requirements

Steam's listing for Final Fantasy Resonance PC requirements is modest. The minimum is Windows 11 with an AMD Ryzen 3 2300X or Intel Core i3-8100, 8 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 6400, Intel Arc A580 or GeForce GTX 1650, with DirectX 12 and 15 GB of storage. Steam says that tier targets 1920 x 1080 at 30 FPS with the graphics preset on Low.

The recommended tier asks for a Ryzen 5 2500X or Core i3-8100, the same 8 GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 5500 XT, Arc A580 or GTX 1650, again with 15 GB of storage, aiming for 1080p at 60 FPS on the Highest preset. Two details stand out. The listing names Windows 11 only, so Windows 10 players should check before buying. And the PC version uses Denuvo anti-tamper, per the Steam page, which some players want to know about ahead of time. Steam's page does not mention Steam Deck compatibility.

Which Final Fantasy Resonance edition to buy

The price ladder is simple. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $10 more than the standard $49.99 and, on Steam, adds the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. The Collector's Edition costs $160 more than the standard edition, and most of that premium pays for the physical extras: an artbook, a soundtrack and a trading card promo. If you want the game and nothing else, the standard edition is the obvious pick, and the demo lets you decide before you spend anything.

Steam's feature list is also worth a glance if you are choosing a platform. The PC version lists single-player, Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, with eight supported languages: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Console versions may differ, and Square Enix has not published a feature comparison in the sources we read, so the PC page is the only detailed one we can vouch for.

What we still do not know about Final Fantasy Resonance

Several things are unconfirmed in the sources we opened. Nintendo Wire's June report said pre-orders for the Switch and Switch 2 versions were not yet open, and we did not find a Nintendo eShop price in our reading, so we are quoting only the US prices Square Enix and Steam list. RPG Site credits LANCARSE as developer and Square Enix as publisher. Steam lists both Square Enix and LANCARSE Ltd. in its developer field.

We also have no review scores, no performance data for Switch or Switch 2, and no word on post-launch content. Treat this as a launch-date and buying-options explainer rather than a verdict. We will update it if Square Enix or the platform holders change a date or a price.
