The launch was first announced by Football Manager on September 29, 2026, and the developer has since used its news feed to roll out features, licences and a Saudi league addition. With the preview's closing time less than two days away as this is published, the practical question for most players is whether to use the trial before it disappears.

Football Manager 27 platforms and Game Pass

Football Manager lists a wide spread for its 2027 edition. On PC and Mac, FM27 is on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Xbox PC app, including Xbox handheld devices. The Launch Preview is the free trial. According to Football Manager's FM27 page, it runs from 6pm GMT on October 29 to 6pm GMT on November 3, 2026, is free on PC and Mac, and includes all modes and features. It can be installed from Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox.com or the Xbox PC app. The launch announcement describes the preview window as opening one to two weeks before release.

The page we opened does not say whether progress carries into the full game, so do not assume a preview save will be there on November 10. Treat the preview as a way to test the new interface and match experience, not as the start of your career save, unless Sports Interactive confirms otherwise.

What is new in Football Manager 27

The headline gameplay change is Tactical Effectiveness, which the FM27 page describes as linking recruitment and training to your tactical blueprint. Alongside it come Tactical Tweaks and Player Instructions that can be changed in real time during matches, and Match Day Theatre, which promises dynamic crowds, weather, stadiums and cutscenes. A 2D match engine and an in-game editor are also listed, with deeper world upgrades.

Presentation features include immersive events, namely Cup Draws and Transfer Deadline Day, plus a smoother interface with a clearer layout for key decisions. Customisation gets a more inclusive Manager Creator and more characterful Newgens. The September launch announcement summed up the interface goal as 'greater control, smoother discovery and a deeper, more immersive football world', which is marketing language until the full game can be played. The announcement also adds Cup Draws, Transfer Deadline Day and an overhauled news feed to the list, with feature videos and deep-dive blogs promised in the weeks before launch.

A new multiplayer mode and the Saudi league

Shuffle Draft is the new social mode. The FM27 page describes it as a fast-paced multiplayer mode made with FIFAe, the esports arm of FIFA, though the page gives no format details beyond that. Separately, Football Manager's news feed lists two licensing stories: 'Football Manager 27 Licences' dated October 28 and 'Roshn Saudi League makes debut in FM27' dated October 27. We have not opened those posts, so we cannot say what they contain beyond their headlines.

The Saudi league's arrival in the game is notable because it reflects where recruitment and money in football have moved. What the licence covers, such as real clubs, names and kits, is for the posts themselves to confirm, and we have not read them.

Subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass get the game itself at no extra charge on the Xbox PC app, so for them the question is mostly about time rather than money.

For everyone else, wait for the November 10 storefront prices, and decide after you have played the preview. The Tactical Effectiveness system and the real-time match changes are the features most likely to change how the game plays, so they are the things to test first.
