Judas game release date: what Take-Two actually says

The Judas game release date has not been announced. Take-Two Interactive's earnings release for its fiscal first quarter 2027, dated August 7, 2026, lists Judas from Ghost Story Games with a release date of TBA, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. That is the most authoritative statement available, because it comes from the publisher's own investor materials, and it is the one to trust over any rumoured window.

It is worth being precise about what that means. TBA is not a delay announcement and it is not a cancellation. It means Take-Two has not committed to a date or a window in public. Contrast that with Grand Theft Auto VI, which the same document dates as November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and with NBA 2K27, which it lists for September 4, 2026.

Judas shares the TBA label with PGA TOUR 2K27, WWE 2K27, Project ETHOS, the next BioShock and the mobile titles Top Goal and CSR 3. In other words, Judas is in the same undated group as Take-Two's earliest-stage projects, which is a sober sign for anyone hoping for a release this year.

The release window that lapsed: from 2025 to TBA

The Judas game release date did once have a window. On February 7, 2023, Video Game Chronicle reported that Take-Two planned to release Judas between then and the end of its 2025 fiscal year, which ended March 31, 2025. Judas was one of 87 titles Take-Two said it planned to release in that period, 38 of them mobile.

That window passed without a release. PCGamesN's release date tracker, last updated December 3, 2025, noted that the original window was March 2025 and estimated a launch before August 2026, based on Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick's comments that the company had a number of releases coming in the next 12 months. That estimate has now lapsed too: the August 7, 2026 release still says TBA.

We treat that as a lesson in how to read these tracker pages. An estimate built on a general CEO comment about a portfolio is not a Judas date. When Zelnick was asked in 2023 about whether dates hold, he was candid, telling investors, per Video Game Chronicle, that "there's always the possibility of some slippage."

“there's always the possibility of some slippage.”

What Judas is: the game Ken Levine's studio is making

Judas is the debut game from Ghost Story Games, the studio Ken Levine formed after BioShock studio Irrational Games closed. Take-Two is the publisher. It was revealed with a trailer at The Game Awards 2022, and VGC's early report described the premise as "A disintegrating starship. A desperate escape plan."

You play the "mysterious and troubled Judas," whose survival depends on forming or breaking alliances with enemies. PCGamesN's description of the setup places her aboard the Mayflower space city, with three major characters, Nefertiti, Hope and Tom, acting as factions competing for her loyalty. Their actions can support or sabotage what she is trying to do, and the narrative is described as modular and non linear rather than a simple branching story.

The studio has described it as a "Judas Simulator" rather than a traditional first person shooter, according to PCGamesN, with a dynamic narrative at its core that adapts to your choices. Levine's guiding idea, per the same report, is "Narrative Lego," in which story pieces recombine depending on what you do.

Judas platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC

Take-Two's own document gives three platforms for Judas: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It does not name a Switch 2 version or a last generation console version, and no earlier report we opened suggests one. On PC, earlier reporting says the game was planned for Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Do not assume a store listing equals a date. PCGamesN reported that storefront listings say "coming soon," which is a placeholder rather than a commitment. We could not verify a pre-order page for Judas, and you should treat any site that offers one as suspect.

Price is equally unknown. Take-Two has not announced a price or editions for Judas, so any figure in circulation is speculation. Levine's stated stance on monetisation, as quoted by PCGamesN, is: "You buy the game and you get the whole thing," and he has described the game as old school with no online or live service components. That is a statement of intent, not a price.

A long development: what is known about the road so far

Judas has been in the works for a long time. Bloomberg reported in January 2022 that the game was originally planned as a BioShock style shooter on a space station with three factions reacting to player choices, that it targeted a 2017 release and that it suffered reboots and staff departures, including half of the original team, per Video Game Chronicle.

More recently, a story trailer aired during a 2024 State of Play, ending with the tagline "Fix what you broke," per PCGamesN. Levine posted hiring calls to former Arkane Studios developers in May 2024 and April 2025, and PCGamesN reports that Ghost Story Games reportedly hired ten or 11 people from Arkane. Levine has said the game has been in development for almost ten years, about half of that in pre-production.

Those details matter for expectations. A studio still recruiting in April 2025 was not in a final polish phase, and nothing we opened shows a locked content complete build. We have no hands on, no preview and no review to draw on, so we say nothing about quality.

Is there a Judas release window in 2027 or later?

At least one secondary report circulating this year claims Take-Two lists Judas for a window of April 2027 to March 2029. We could not confirm that in Take-Two's August 7, 2026 release, which lists TBA with no window, so we do not treat that range as established. If Take-Two does publish a fiscal window, it would most likely appear in an earnings release, so the next date to watch is November 9, 2026, when Take-Two says it will report second quarter fiscal 2027 results.

A realistic reading is limited to what is verified. The first public window has lapsed, the latest official listing carries no date, and the company has committed its November launch calendar to Grand Theft Auto VI. That is not proof Judas is far away, but it is also not evidence it is close.

Our advice: ignore pre-order pages, leaked date videos and tracker pages that predict a month. Follow Take-Two's earnings releases and Ghost Story Games' own channels, and we will update this page when either dates the game.

What this means for Judas fans

The practical takeaway is that there is no Judas game release date to plan around. If you want a similar immersive sim experience in the meantime, that is a separate question we have not tested here, so we offer no list. What we can say is that the genre pedigree behind Judas, a studio led by the director of BioShock, is the reason the wait draws attention, not a promise of quality.

For readers tracking Take-Two's slate, the document draws a clear line between dated and undated games. GTA VI is dated. Judas is not. The gap between them is the clearest verified signal we have about where Judas sits.

We will update this piece with a dated note each time Take-Two or Ghost Story Games says something new. Where we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out.

Frequently asked

What is the Judas game release date?

There is no announced Judas game release date. Take-Two Interactive's earnings release for fiscal first quarter 2027, dated August 7, 2026, lists Judas from Ghost Story Games with a release date of TBA for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The earlier window, which ran to the end of Take-Two's 2025 fiscal year on March 31, 2025, has passed without a release, and no new window has been confirmed in the document we opened.

Take-Two has not published a statement calling it a formal delay, but the original window has clearly lapsed, so the practical effect is the same.

When will we find out the Judas release date?

No date has been promised. The next scheduled Take-Two event is its second quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report on November 9, 2026, according to Take-Two's investor relations page, where release windows are usually updated. Announcements could also come through Ghost Story Games or a showcase. We will update this article with a dated note if either happens, so check back rather than trusting unofficial dates.
