What just launched

Marvel's Wolverine is out, launching worldwide on 15 September 2026 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed in its launch announcement. It is Insomniac Games' first Marvel project since Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and a deliberate change of register: where Spider-Man leaned on acrobatics, this is built around Logan's claws, healing factor and heightened senses.

Sony describes the game as single-player and narrative-driven, and specifically not set in an open world. The story follows Logan on a search for answers about his past.

How it plays, and where it goes

The studio highlights visceral claw combat that blends melee, stealth and heightened senses, across locations including the Canadian wilderness, the streets of Tokyo and the jungles of Madripoor. Supporting characters named by Sony include Jean Grey, Sabretooth and Bolivar Trask.

On the hardware side, Sony points to DualSense adaptive triggers and haptics, 3D audio, ultra-fast loading and enhanced performance on PS5 Pro.

“This original vision for Logan is a powerful example of making an iconic character shine on PlayStation 5.”

What Sony did not say

Standard and Digital Deluxe editions are available, but the launch release did not state pricing. It is a PS5 console exclusive, with no PC or Xbox version announced.

The release closes a long road. Insomniac first teased the game in September 2021 and confirmed a Fall 2026 window in September 2025 before locking the 15 September date.

Our take

We have not assigned a review score. Per our review policy we publish a score only once we have played a game to a verdict, and a full review will follow separately. For now this is the biggest first-party PlayStation launch of the autumn, and the clearest sign yet that Insomniac can carry a second Marvel hero with a completely different feel.
