Mycopunk 1.0 release date: October 20 on PC and PS5

The Mycopunk 1.0 release date is October 20, 2026. That is the day Pigeons at Play's co-op looter shooter leaves early access on Steam and arrives on PlayStation 5, according to The Sixth Axis on September 20 and Push Square on September 21. Publisher Devolver Digital is behind the launch, and the PlayStation Store listing is dated October 20 in the US and Europe.

Early access began on July 10, 2025, so the game has spent about 15 months in players' hands. The first console announcement came earlier: Gematsu reported on September 3 that the game would reach PS5 and PC in October, without a day. The exact date followed in mid-September, and the Russian outlet PlayGround.ru reported that it was announced during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct.

One caveat from our research: we found no Xbox or Switch version in any source, so for now this is a PC and PlayStation story.

Price and PS Plus: $14.99, or free with a subscription

On Steam, Mycopunk costs $14.99 in the US, according to the store's API on October 16. The Sixth Axis lists the UK price as 14 pounds. That is a low entry price for a four-player shooter with a deep upgrade system, and it matches the price of the early access build, so the 1.0 launch does not come with a price hike.

On PlayStation, the cheaper route is a subscription. Push Square reports that Sony confirmed the game for PlayStation Plus Extra at launch, and The Sixth Axis says it will be available on day one for Extra or Premium subscribers. We did not find a standalone PS5 purchase price in the sources we opened, so check the store listing.

“Now we're hard at work on the massive 1.0 update which is coming”

Pigeons at Play, 'The Roadmap to 1.0', Steam announcement, July 31, 2026

What 1.0 adds: guns, grenades, maps, modes and hats

The Sixth Axis, which cites a press release, says the 1.0 update brings new guns, new grenades, new maps, new modes, a new character and, at last, hats. The studio itself is vaguer. In a July 31 Steam post titled 'The Roadmap to 1.0', Pigeons at Play said it was hard at work on the 'massive 1.0 update' and that the date would be 'whenever we say it is'.

A cryo grenade is the one confirmed piece. The August update notes say the studio was 'kinda soft launching cryo' to see how it plays with the rest of the sandbox, with a variant of the exploding barrel enemy that freezes everything around it, before the Cryo Grenade arrives in 1.0. The studio's September 11 devlog also describes a 1.0 change to pattern infusion, where most upgrade stats scale with the size of their upgrade patterns.

That detail matters because the hexagonal upgrade grid is the game's defining mechanic. Players slot mods into a grid to build absurd weapons, and tying stats to pattern size means large, shaped upgrades become a real choice instead of a trap.

What early access already changed: swamp, cryo and controller support

The August 25 update, called Freeze and Fester, is the best preview of the finished game. It opened a new swamp region with caves, industrial pipelines and forests, added four special cryo upgrades that can be equipped on any employee, and replaced the old tutorial with a new intro mission. A character called Lottery Larry also arrived in the hub to sell random rolls of specific skins.

It also improved controller play, which matters with a PS5 version coming. The update added aim assist that can be disabled, d-pad menu navigation, and reworked controls for the Blitseg vehicle, with the left stick moving, the right trigger boosting and the left trigger drifting. Studio notes from the roadmap post list other early access additions: a rebuilt UI, the roguelike Ouroboros mode with Ice Floes, two new weapons and a grenade, procedural levels and redesigned enemies.

Voice chat is part of the game too. The studio's September 11 devlog describes fixing a crash caused by the Discord SDK when leaving a lobby, which shows how much of the late work is stability rather than spectacle.

PC requirements and who it is for

Steam lists modest PC requirements. The minimum is Windows 10, an Intel Core i3-610 or AMD FX-8350, 8 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 960, Radeon R9 380 or Arc A380 and 10 GB of storage, aiming for 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings. The recommended spec is an Intel Core i7-6700K or Ryzen 5 1500X with an RTX 2080, RX 5700 XT or Arc A750, for 1080p at 60 FPS on high.

Push Square describes it as a mission-based looter shooter for 1 to 4 players, and Steam lists the game as an action indie title. The pitch is loot, shoot, repeat: choose a loadout, drop into missions on the fungus-ravaged planet, take enemies apart piece by piece and carry the mods back to the grid. If you play with friends and like build-crafting, the price makes it an easy buy.

What it means: a small studio's first game gets its console moment

Pigeons at Play says in its roadmap post that this is the team's first released game, which makes the 4,776 Steam reviews and the 88% positive score a notable result. A PlayStation Plus Extra slot on launch day puts it in front of an audience that never saw the early access build.

Our take is cautious but positive. The date is firm, the price is low and the early access record is strong. What we cannot yet verify is the full 1.0 content list beyond the press-release summary, and whether the PS5 version matches PC in performance. Wait for launch-day patch notes before assuming either.
