Spider-Man 3 game release date: there is not one yet

There is no Spider-Man 3 game release date. Insomniac Games has not announced Marvel's Spider-Man 3, and Sony has not given it a window, a platform list or a price. GamingBible put it plainly in January 2026: "Insomniac Games hasn't officially announced the development of Marvel's Spider-Man 3." Nothing we found since has changed that.

Every date you may have seen comes from one of three places: a 2023 data leak, an unproven YouTube claim, or an analyst guess based on past gaps between releases. We cover each below, with how much weight it deserves. If you only need the short version, the answer is that nobody outside Insomniac and Sony can tell you when this game will come out.

What Insomniac has actually said about a third game

The studio has talked about the idea without committing to it. Wikipedia's summary of the public record has creative director Bryan Intihar calling a potential third instalment "pretty epic" in October 2023, and narrative director Ben Arfmann and another developer confirming in November 2023 that Miles Morales would be the main Spider-Man in future entries. It also records actor Yuri Lowenthal confirming in February 2025 that Peter Parker will appear in an upcoming sequel.

None of that is an announcement. It is a studio signalling that more Spider-Man games are possible. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launched on PS5 on October 20, 2023 and reached PC on January 30, 2025, ported by Nixxes Software, per the same summary, and sold more than 11 million copies by April 2024. A sequel is commercially obvious, which is why the speculation is intense, but obvious is not confirmed.

The IMDB listing: what it shows and what it does not

In August 2026 Notebookcheck reported that a publicly viewable IMDB listing for Marvel's Spider-Man 3 shows the status "In production" and lists Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith, who worked on the previous game. The outlet read that as the project having left pre-production, and noted that it rests on a fan's post, not a Sony or Insomniac statement.

That caution is worth repeating. IMDB pages can be edited by contributors, and Notebookcheck itself says the studio "has not shared an official confirmation yet". The listing is a clue that someone believes the game is moving, not evidence of a date. Notebookcheck's own estimate of "September/October 2027 at the earliest" is derived from the autumn release pattern of the 2018 and 2023 games, and it adds that the game "could even be pushed to 2028".

What the leaks say: 2027, 2028 or 2029

The oldest source is the December 2023 ransomware attack on Insomniac, which Wikipedia records as having leaked documents that referenced a standalone Venom game and a Marvel's Spider-Man 3 that Venom was expected to set up. ComicBook.com described the same 2023 leak as an internal roadmap into the 2030s that listed Spider-Man 3 for 2027, with Venom planned for 2025 and Wolverine for 2026.

That roadmap has already slipped in part: Venom, which it placed in 2025, has not arrived, while Wolverine did land in 2026 as listed. In July 2025 ComicBook.com reported a YouTuber, The Maggshow, claiming 2029 and possibly PS6 only, with a cross-gen PS5 release not ruled out. The outlet called it "an unproven source" and told readers to take it "with an extra grain of salt". We agree: a single unnamed-source claim from a channel with no track record is not a date.

Spider-Man 3 on PS5 or PS6: what is known

Nothing official. Notebookcheck argues a non-PlayStation release is unlikely, citing Sony's policy of limiting first-party launches on other platforms, and points to Marvel's Wolverine, a PS5 exclusive, as the example. Spider-Man 2 did reach PC more than a year after its PS5 launch, so a PC version later is plausible, but that is inference.

As for PS6, the claim comes from the same 2025 YouTuber report and from speculation. Sony has not announced PS6 hardware in anything we reviewed, so any Spider-Man 3 platform claim that depends on it is stacked on another unconfirmed claim.

How long Insomniac usually takes between Marvel games

The public record gives a rough sense of Insomniac's pace. Per GamingBible, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine were announced together in September 2021. Spider-Man 2 then launched in October 2023, about two years later, while Wolverine took until September 2026, five years after its announcement. Notebookcheck uses the 2018 and 2023 releases of the previous two Spider-Man games to estimate a roughly five-year cycle.

Apply that spacing and you get the estimates floating around: autumn 2027 at the earliest and 2028 or 2029 as more likely. That is arithmetic about a studio's habits, not information about a project. A game that has not been announced can be slower or faster than any previous cycle, and Insomniac is also reportedly handling a Venom game, so the same team cannot be assumed to be working on only one title.

Marvel's Wolverine and the Insomniac schedule

Marvel's Wolverine is the best clue to what Insomniac is doing now. Push Square reports it launched on September 15, 2026 as a PS5 exclusive, topped Circana's US chart in full-game dollar sales for September, and had the biggest launch month for a Sony-published game since Helldivers 2 in February 2024. Push Square also says there is no official unit figure.

A strong Wolverine launch does not tell us when Spider-Man 3 ships. Studios of Insomniac's size run overlapping projects, and Notebookcheck notes the Venom game was reportedly meant to follow Wolverine, which could push Spider-Man 3 later. Our read: until Insomniac or PlayStation announces the game, the only honest answer is that a date is not known, and we will update this page the day that changes.

Frequently asked

What is the Spider-Man 3 game release date?

There is no official date. Insomniac Games has not announced Marvel's Spider-Man 3, so there is no confirmed window, platform or price. Leaks have pointed to 2027, 2028 and 2029, but those come from a 2023 data leak and an unproven YouTuber, not from Sony. Notebookcheck estimates September or October 2027 at the earliest, based only on past release patterns.

Has Insomniac announced Marvel's Spider-Man 3?

No. GamingBible stated in January 2026 that Insomniac Games hasn't officially announced the development of Marvel's Spider-Man 3, and Notebookcheck repeated in October 2026 that the studio has not shared an official confirmation. Developers have discussed a third game in interviews and a fan spotted an IMDB listing, but neither is an announcement. Check Insomniac's own channels and the PlayStation Blog, which is where such an announcement would appear first.

Is Spider-Man 3 coming to PS6?

Unconfirmed. ComicBook.com reported in July 2025 that a YouTuber claimed the game might be PS6 only, with a cross-gen PS5 release not ruled out, and the outlet called that source unproven. Notebookcheck says a non-PlayStation release is unlikely under Sony's first-party policy, but neither claim is from Sony. Treat platform talk as rumour until Sony shows a platform list in an official announcement or on a store page.

What does the Spider-Man 3 IMDB listing say?

Notebookcheck reports a publicly viewable IMDB listing for Marvel's Spider-Man 3 shows the status "In production" and lists Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith, who worked on the previous game. The outlet notes the studio has shared no confirmation and that the listing is not a Sony or Insomniac statement. It is a clue, not a release date.

Why is there no Spider-Man 3 date after Marvel's Wolverine?

Insomniac and Sony have simply not announced the game. Marvel's Wolverine launched on September 15, 2026 and led Circana's US September chart, per Push Square. Notebookcheck notes a Venom game was reportedly meant to follow Wolverine, which could push Spider-Man 3 later. Studios usually announce a game once it is far enough along to show.

When did Marvel's Spider-Man 2 come out?

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launched on PS5 on October 20, 2023, according to Wikipedia's summary of the record, and reached Windows PC on January 30, 2025, ported by Nixxes Software. It sold more than 11 million copies as of April 20, 2024. The gap between Spider-Man 2 and any sequel is what leaks and estimates try to extend.
