Wolverine game release date: out since September 15, 2026

The Wolverine game release date was September 15, 2026. Marvel's Wolverine, made by Insomniac Games with Marvel Games, is out now on PlayStation 5 only. The Standard Edition costs $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition $79.99 on the US PlayStation Store, and there is no PC or Xbox version announced.

PlayStation's own FAQ for the game answers the date question directly: "Marvel's Wolverine launched on PlayStation 5 consoles on September 15, 2026." The store page's closing banner reads "Available now" and describes the game as available "only on PS5 consoles". So if you have seen older pre-release pages that still say "coming September 15", they are out of date.

This guide covers the questions that come after the date: what each edition costs, what the more expensive one actually gives you, which hardware plays it, and what the limited-edition console bundle costs. For what the game is and how Sony described its launch, our earlier news report on the launch is at /news/marvels-wolverine-ps5-launch.

How much does Marvel's Wolverine cost?

On the US PlayStation Store the Standard Edition is $69.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $79.99. If you already own the Standard Edition, the store lists a Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade add-on pack at $10.00, which is the same $10 gap between the two editions.

Prices vary by region. A pre-release PlayStation Blog post for Southeast Asia listed the Digital Deluxe Edition at SGD 99.90, MYR 399, IDR 1,349,000 and THB 2,690, and the Standard Disc Edition at SGD 89.90, MYR 299, IDR 1,169,000, THB 2,290, PHP 4,099 and VND 1,799,000. Those are suggested retail prices from the blog, so check your local store for current figures, since retailers set their own prices.

The blog post also confirmed that a disc version of the Standard Edition existed in that region, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is a digital-only product. We have not checked every regional store, so treat the Southeast Asia numbers as an illustration of how far prices move rather than a quote for your country.

What the Digital Deluxe Edition adds

The Digital Deluxe Edition is a cosmetic and head-start package. The PlayStation Store lists five exclusive suits, five exclusive claws, extra Technique Points, early unlocks of the Classic Brown Suit and Reflective Claws, and four PlayStation Avatars. The PlayStation Blog's Southeast Asia post named the suits as Incredible, Savage, Age of Apocalypse, Night Hunt and New Leather, and the claws as Smooth-Edged, Hollow Blade, Thick, Serrated Spine and Tapered.

Insomniac said these items are purely cosmetic. The same blog post says players can unlock claws in the base game through standard progression, with only the exclusive items reserved for the Digital Deluxe Edition. In plain terms, the extra $10 does not buy any combat advantage beyond a few starting Technique Points, and nobody who buys the Standard Edition is locked out of the story.

Whether it is worth $10 depends on how much you care about alternate looks. If you want the Age of Apocalypse or New Leather suits, the Deluxe package or the $10 upgrade is the only route we found listed. If you do not, the Standard Edition contains the full game.

Technique Points: why sources disagree on three, four or one

The number of Technique Points in the Deluxe package is stated two ways on the same PlayStation Store page. The edition card says "Four Technique Points", while a summary further down says "+3 technique points" under the Digital Deluxe Edition, and separately lists the pre-order incentive as one Technique Point.

The likeliest reading is that three come from the Deluxe package and one from the pre-order bonus, for a total of four if you did both. The PlayStation Blog's Southeast Asia post lists "1 Additional Technique Point" for pre-orders and "3 Additional Technique Points" for the Digital Deluxe Edition, which fits that arithmetic. That is our reading of the two listings, not a statement Sony makes in so many words.

Either way the quantity is small. Techniques are the swappable abilities the store page describes as part of Wolverine's progression, so a few early points speed up your first hours rather than change the game's balance.

Pre-order bonuses: what the incentives were

Pre-orders of any edition came with early unlocks of the Classic Brown Suit and Reflective Claws, one Technique Point and four PlayStation Avatars, according to the store page's pre-order banner. The wording is early unlock, which suggests the items arrive later in the game for everyone else. The blog post says claws can be reached through standard progression, but it does not state precisely when each item unlocks.

Now that the game is out, the pre-order window has closed and the banner has switched to "Available now". We did not find a source that says whether late buyers get the avatars, so if those matter to you, check the Deluxe or Standard listing in your own store before you pay.

Marvel's Wolverine platforms: PS5, PS5 Pro, and the PC and Xbox question

Marvel's Wolverine is a PlayStation 5 game. PlayStation's page lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced and says Insomniac's take on Logan is available "only on PS5 or PS5 Pro". There is no PC, Xbox or Switch version announced, and the store page does not mention one. If you are asking whether a PC release is coming, there is nothing official to point to as of October 27, 2026.

The page lists the game as single-player with offline play enabled, and supports Remote Play. It adds that PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming is supported only with a Premium subscription. For features, PlayStation highlights the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the console's ultra-high-speed SSD for near-instant load times, and Tempest 3D audio.

The content descriptors on the store listing are Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity and Strong Language, so this is a mature title. Players can pick from a range of difficulty settings, which the page's FAQ says lets people find the right level of challenge.

The Wolverine PS5 bundle and accessories

Sony also sold limited-edition hardware. Techloy reported the PS5 Digital Edition Marvel's Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle, which includes a matching DualSense controller and a game code, at $649.99 in the US, £569.99 in the UK and €649.99 in Europe, in limited quantities. Battle Yellow and Adamantium DualSense controllers were listed at $84.99, and the PS5 and PS5 Pro covers at $74.99, in the US.

GosuGamers reports the artwork was created by the comic artist Jock together with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games, and that there was no bundle for the PS5 Disc Edition. The PlayStation page says the range of limited-edition console bundles and accessories is available from September 15, 2026. Those were limited quantities, so stock may be gone by the time you read this.

If you simply want to play, none of this is required. The game runs on any PS5, and the bundle is a collector's item priced $649.99 for a console, controller and game code.

What kind of game it is, and where our verdict stands

PlayStation describes the game as an all-new original story. Three years after walking out on his team, Logan rejoins the mutant task force Team X while Bolivar Trask kidnaps mutants, with stops in Canada, Tokyo and the Marvel island nation of Madripoor. PlayStation's page names Reavers and Omega Red among the enemies, and describes Techniques and Adaptations that let you stalk, ambush or overpower foes.

It is single-player and not open world, according to PlayStation's own FAQ. That matters for expectations if you are coming from Insomniac's Spider-Man games.

We have not published a review score. Our policy is to score a game only after playing it to a verdict, so nothing here should be read as a recommendation beyond the facts above.
