What changed on 30 September
Xbox disc-to-digital has left the Insider program. TheGamer reported on 30 September 2026 that the feature is now available to all players, quoting Xbox's line that all players can now experience the benefits of digital with most Xbox Series X and Xbox One physical discs.
The idea itself is not new. Xbox announced it on 26 August 2026 in a post by Jason Ronald, VP Next Generation, with Insider testing starting on 31 August.
How to claim a digital license
